About the Bassenthwaite area...

Bassenthwaite

The Bassenthwaite area is the ideal location if you are looking to escape the busier central Lake District but still enjoy the immense beauty of the Lake District. The towns of Keswick and Cockermouth are each less than 15 minutes drive plus you can reach the central Lakes in a little over 30 minutes.

The Big Pink House is a detached self catering group accommodation property. The house is located near the village of Mealsgate, just north of Bassenthwaite Lake and Keswick.

The Big Pink House is the ideal location for groups, family holidays, reunions, get-togethers and corporate events. The house offers sole use self catering holiday accommodation.

Short Breaks are very welcome in the Big Pink House and normally run from Friday or Monday for either weekend or mid-week breaks, of course if you are looking for a longer stay, full weeks are available.

Lounge

The Big Pink House has two lounge areas the first has large comfortable sofa seating, a great quiet place for everyone to relax after a day of activities. The second lounge has a seating with TV and DVD player.

Dining Room

The large dining room allows everyone to get together at meal times and discuss their day or for that family celebration or reunion. The dining room also has its own bar (if you fancy being the landlord for the weekend!). The bar is un-stocked, however a local brewing company can supply a keg of local ale (please see Extras) for more detail.

Pool Table Room

Adjacent to the second lounge, this room has a pool table; great for keeping everyone amused, plus why not set up a tournament?

Bedrooms

The Big Pink House has a total of 9 bedrooms (all of which have en-suite shower/bathrooms). In total the main house has 2x double rooms, 1x twin bedroom, 1x bunk bedroom, 1x bunk and double bedroom and 2x family bedrooms (with double and single bed). Each bedroom has wardrobes, dressing table and bedside cabinets. Also the cottage to the rear of the house has two luxurious twin en-suite bedrooms

Kitchen

The large kitchen comes equipped with a full inventory of pots, pans, utensils and equipment. The main food preparation area has two ovens, large five burner hob, kettles, toasters, sink and ample work-surface.

Pantry

Accessed via the kitchen and dining room, the pantry provides storage for all your food with cupboards, fridges and freezers. The pantry also has sinks and dishwashers, plus large surfaces for plating up at meal times.

Utility Room

Also accessed from the kitchen the utility room has semi-commercial washer and dryer, plus sink.

Outside

The Big Pink House has large grounds with: lawn area, patio and adjacent field. The gardens provide a great place for a family game of football or even to relax in and enjoy the Lake District sun. Outside there is also secure (lockable) storage for bikes etc.

Additional Information

All bed linen, towels and fuel are provided. Cot and High Chair are also available upon request; however linen is not provided for the cot. The Big Pink House unfortunately does not allow pets.
