About the Bassenthwaite area...

The Bassenthwaite area is the ideal location if you are looking to escape the busier central Lake District but still enjoy the immense beauty of the Lake District. The towns of Keswick and Cockermouth are each less than 15 minutes drive plus you can reach the central Lakes in a little over 30 minutes.

Peterhouse Cottage is situated on a Lakeland Hill Farm in a tranquil location at the foot of Skiddaw, near picturesque Bassenthwaite village, thus providing the perfect rural retreat. Peterhouse Cottage sleeps 5 people and is maintained to the highest standards and this has been awarded a four star rating under the Quality in Tourism (Enjoy England) scheme.

Situated on a working farm, Peterhouse Cottage is a cosy and sympathetic barn conversion property attached to the original 17th century farm house. The Cottage benefits from original exposed beams throughout, picturesque Lake District views from most the windows and to add to the true Lake District experience, the property is fed with Lakeland spring water.

Peterhouse Cottage is the ideal self-catering accommodation for walkers, as it is located on a quiet country road with Skiddaw literally on the door step; thus providing walking routes which start directly from the front door.

Peterhouse Cottage is located close to the Lake District village of Bassenthwaite and the market town of Keswick. Bassenthwaite village has a charming pub offering great food while Keswick consists of various shops, galleries, points of interest, restaurants and much more.

Upon your arrival a friendly welcome awaits along with some lovely home-baked treats for you to enjoy.

The cottage is a cosy split level property with electric storage heating and is located next to Pembroke Cottage which sleeps four people.
